Our "new" car...

Yesterday we traded in Matt's Volkswagen Jetta for a new car. It's a pre-owned car, but new to us! We got an '03 Honda Accord.

We just couldn't see paying all the money we were paying for his Jetta. So now we have a VERY reasonable car payment and we really like our new car! It was kind of hard giving the dealership the keys to the Jetta. However we both feel like we made a smart decision.

Here is our car...

One major plus is that the Accord has much more room! Matt's Jetta was a compact car and this one is a mid-size.

Bad Luck

I'm not usually a superstitious person. I'm really not. However life events from the past 2 years have me feeling a little that way!

I know it's silly, but I kept help feeling like my house has a bad vibe or something. It seems we moved in and life just went downhill FAST.

I know, I know how could a house cause all this misfortune? It's probably just a coincidence, actually it's definitely a coincidence. But still I ponder about this from time to time.

We moved into our house on May 8, 2006.

May 24th~ Our precious dog, Toby, was hit by a car and killed. I still feel like I've been kicked in the stomach when I think about that.

July 6th~ I suffered a miscarriage. This was extremely devastating, I can't even explain.

January~ Started feeling sick. I first started noticing I was feeling dizzy all. of. the. time. I thought it was in my head at first, but I continued to have new, scary symptoms.

June 28th~ I finally got an answer to what had been causing me all my misery: I had Lyme Disease.

Present time~ still dealing with this disease. Feel very hopeless most. of. the. time.

So I know what you're thinking. 'This girl is crazy!' And maybe I am. Maybe these spirochetes that are floating around my body have invaded my brain, could be. I just feel like this house is under a black cloud sometimes. It just feels that way.

They do say bad things happen in 3's right? So maybe I just had one of those occurences happen.

Okay I feel completely nuts for posting this, but oh well. Whatever.

OUCH....

I had braces for nearly 2 years. I got them off in 2003. My ortho put a permanent bonded retainer on the bottom and I was supposed to wear a removeable one on top. Well I did really good for the first year or so, but as time went on I wore my top retainer less and less. The bottom teeth stayed perfect straight thank to the permenant retainer, but the top teeth shifted slightly. It's not really bad, but still it bothers me (a little).

Well my bonded retainer started to come loose last week. It kept poking my tongue which really hurt. So after 5 years I called my orthodontist and set an appointment. They fixed the lower retainer. I thought that was all that was going to go on with my appointment but the orthodontist wanted to fix my top teeth. I don't have to pay anything extra... he'll include it in all that my parent's paid for my braces (which wasn't cheap!) He said I needed to wear my reatiner for 8 weeks... 8 LONG WEEKS. Then I will get a permanent retainer for the top.

When he was telling me this I was thinking "I don't even know if I still have my retainer" "I'm going to be in sooooo much pain. Do I even want to do this?" I decided that I could handle 8 weeks and that I should do it. I mean it's worth it if I can fix the teeth that bother me.

So I get home, find my retainer (which was suprinsingly easy to find), and proceed to jam it into my mouth. Well not really jam, but it definitely didn't go in easily. My teeth must of shifted a little more than I thought. It immediately felt really tight against my teeth. I knew I was in for some pain. Well that was 2 days ago and my teeth are still pretty sore. But I can notice that a difference in how they look already. Yay!

Besides the pain the biggest annoyance is talking. Aghh! It is so hard to talk with a big ol' plastic contraption in your mouth. Matt has been making fun of me because I sound so weird. Today I went on a lot of errands. I was tempted to leave the retainer out so I could actually be able to talk, but I toughed it out. Only 8 weeks more of being a metal mouth!

Weekend Project

This last weekend me and Matt re-did our spare bedroom. Before it was an office/playroom. It orginally was just a playroom so we had painted it a bright green color. Then when we decided to put our desk and computer in there, it just didn't seem right for the room to be green. We also had an issue with the room ALWAYS being messy. My son is a little spoiled with the toy department- okay a lot spoiled! So there were always toys EVERYWHERE. It drove me and Matt nuts.

So we decided to put all of Holden's toys in his closet. We bought a twin bed from a garage sale and made the room an office/guest room. We like it so much better! When we were deciding on the color we knew we wanted somethin neutral, but I didn't want beige. So we decided for a greyish khaki color. It's called sandstone cliff. It's very light- actually a little lighter than we anticipated, but I think it works well. The room isn't very big, so the lighter color makes it feel more open.

Now we are working on decorating. We found a picture at TJMaxx that we thought was just perfect. It was neat because the comforter we picked for the twin bed matched perfectly. It's reversible and both sides coordinate with colors on the picture.

The comforter (we got it at Walmart...isn't the criss cross pattern neat?)

Here is a zoomed in picture of the art work. Notice the greyish/khaki color on the outside of the picture...and sage color underneath it. They are very close to the same colors of the comforter. Just thought that was kind of neat how it worked out.

We still have more stuff we want to get including more wall decor, maybe another pillow or two, and a new desk... so it's not finished yet. But here is a picutre of what the room looks like so far. (We put the picture in the middle of the room, so it would tie the whole room together.) Like I said we still need more stuff for the wall... it looks a little bare right now, but we're getting there.

My baby turned THREE today!

I can't believe he is 3. Seems like just yesterday he was born. I feel so blessed to have the beautiful child in my life. He is the sweetest boy and makes me so happy.

We woke him up this morning and wished him Happy Birthday. Here's a short video from that:

We decided to go to Chuck E. Cheese for lunch. Holden absolutely LOVES that place. You can see by this picture how much he likes it...

Watching Chuck E. Cheese while waiting for our pizza...

Now for the fun part of Chuck E. Cheese... the games!

This evening we had a small party for Holden.

We had a Spiderman themed party, or as Holden calls him "Piderman".

His cake-

Eating with his friend, Gabrielle-

Opening presents!

He loved the present my friend Rhonda and her family got him. It's a huge tunnel with Thomas the train on it.

Holden's Nana and Pop got him the cutest gift. It's a bear that was carved out of a log. It's so neat and goes so well with his room which has a camp/wilderness theme. They got it from a little shop in Manitou Springs. I'll take a picture of it later and put it here- Holden's fast asleep in his room right now.

About to blow out his candles..

Eating his cake... he really dug into it.

I recorded a lot with my camcorder. I will have to figure out how to get that video on here. I have Holden being sung Happy Birthday to and blowing out his candles.

I guess with Holden turning 3 our next adventure will be potty training. Aghh! I'm so not looking forward to that. Wish us luck!

Wordless Wednesday
