Welcome 2008 and a reflection on 2007...

Wow this year flew by! Isn't that how it always is though? I can't say I'm sad to see it go. 2007 wasn't the greatest year. Plus I'm weird and don't like odd numbers... so goodbye 2007 and hello 2008.

I'm very hopeful for this coming year. I feel like a lot of good things will happen. I can't wait to see all the new things Holden learns this year. The end of last year Holden was barely talking and now he repeats pretty much anything you say.
I thought it would be fun to end 2007 with pictures and highlights from the year.

So here goes...

Christmas Part 1!

Since we were going to be in Colorado for Christmas we had an early celebration with my family the Friday before. I cooked dinner and we exchanged our gifts.

Here is Holden in his dump truck my sister got him:

Here is the meal I cooked. I know I'm a dork for taking a picture of food, but oh well!

Our Christmas Tree!

Present Time!

Just pictures of Holden (and one of Matt) because no one else wanted their picture taken. Grinches! LOL. And me being the picture taker was behind the camera. So that's why it's mostly just Holdie.

My Aunt Sharon and Uncle Bruce sent Holden a couple gifts! He really liked them... He got books and one of the books came with puppets. So neat!

The gift I was most excited about Holden opening... a train. Since like November whenever we would ask Holden what he wanted Santa to bring him he would say a train, so I had to get him one!

Well that wraps up Christmas at the Turner house.

Look at the next entry to see about our Christmas in Colorado...

Christmas Part 2!

We just got back last night from Colorado. We spent a week with my inlaws.. Matt's parents, sisters, and our niece and nephew live there. We had a lot of fun. Of course I took a million pictures, so here they are:

Holden fast asleep on the way to CO. It was really icy in the Panhandle so we had to go through Oklahoma instead of New Mexico. It ended up taking us 10 long hours to get to their house. (Normally it takes around 8 hours.)

Holden and Tay eating spaghetti the night we got there.

All bundled up... It definitely was a big weather change from West Texas to Colorado. BRRRR.

Playing with his cousins...

We actually got him to take a nap!!

All peaceful and cute on his little bed... Thank God for that bed because Holden is not a good co-sleeper.

Now for some Christmas Day Pictures!!!

The Tree

Checking out his stocking goodies.. (excuse the nasty nose... it was running non-stop while we were there!)

Opening presents with Tay..

Playing with his Mr. Potato head with Jesse!

My silly boy pretending his dinosaur is biting his hand..

The day after Christmas we went bowling. I lost miserably, but it was still fun! Holden had fun cheering for Mama and Daddy, but that was only until he discovered the arcade motorcycles!

Just a cute picture of Holden and Matt sleeping.

Us with Tay and Jess... We're wearing our matching Avalanche clothes we got for Christmas.

Our last day there we went to a neat little town called Manitou Springs. It's a beautiful, historical place. They have penny arcades, lots of little shops, and much more!

Here is Holden having a good time--

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. :-)

My Little Contortionist!

This Christmas season I bought most of my gifts online so we have a lot of boxes laying around. You can't imagine how much fun boxes are to a 2 year old. Tonight Holden decided to show off his flexibility with one of the boxes.

So without further ado, Ladies and Gentleman I would like to present the one and only "Holden the Great Toddler Contortionist"....

First you have to get in the box...one leg at a time. This takes much skill. He must be steady or else face the doom of falling.

It takes a few moments. The flaps of the box can be tricky to maneuver.

Holden waves goodbye to the audience (read: Mama and Daddy) before commencing this very difficult trick.

He slowly but surely gets into his position.

He must turn just the right way to fit in this extremely small box.

He sinks down until barely the top of his head can be seen.

Holden is getting close to the completion of this amazing trick.

Our lovely...er...hansome assistant (read: Daddy) closes the box.

Seconds later Holden the Great emerges from the box unscathed.

How did he do it? We will never know.
